Bengals vs Ravens

Baltimore have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will square off against Cincinnati at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Baltimore have a defense that allows only 17.78 points per game, so Baltimore’s offense will have their work cut out for them.

The last time they met, Baltimore were the 26-14 winner over Pittsburgh. This time around? They had no such luck. Baltimore took a 16-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pittsburgh. Baltimore can’t seem to catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a contest Cincinnati are hoping to forget as they lost a 14-51 blowout to New Orleans last week. Cincinnati were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 7-35.

With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. We’ll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.

Cowboys vs Falcons

A key game in the NFC wild-card race takes place Sunday at 1 p.m. ET when the Atlanta Falcons host the Dallas Cowboys. Both clubs are one game behind Green Bay in the NFC wild-card standings, and the winner will get a leg up in the battle for a coveted postseason spot. The Falcons (4-5) were considered a favorite to win the NFC South, but now sit a seemingly insurmountable four games behind the Saints. Atlanta is looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance in a 28-16 loss to the Browns. Meanwhile, Dallas (4-5) climbed into a tie for second place in the NFC East with its upset of Philadelphia, but remains two games behind the Redskins. On Sunday, Atlanta is a three-point favorite and the over-under for total points scored is 49.5 in the current Cowboys vs. Falcons odds. Before you make any Cowboys vs. Falcons picks, check out what SportsLine expert Mike Tierney has to say.

Tierney is a widely respected national sportswriter who also has emerged as one of the top handicappers in all sports for SportsLine. He’s currently among their top NFL analysts with an astounding record of 41-19, returning a whopping profit of $2,000 to $100 bettors. Moreover, he’s had an especially sharp eye when it comes to the tendencies of Dallas. Over the past two seasons, Tierney is 8-2 on spread picks involving the Cowboys.

Cowboys vs Falcons NFL Football Free Signup

Two weeks ago, Tierney advised SportsLine members that the Cowboys were too big of a favorite against the Titans and would struggle to cover a spread of nearly a touchdown. The result: Tennessee won outright, 28-14, and anyone who heeded Tierney’s advice booked an easy winner.

Now, Tierney has studied Falcons vs. Cowboys from every possible angle and released a strong point-spread selection that’s available only at SportsLine.

Tierney knows that in beating the defending Super Bowl champions on the road, the Cowboys showed a varied and effective offense, while their sterling defense consistently delivered stops. Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 151 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown while adding six receptions for 36 yards and another score. New acquisition Amari Cooper had six catches for 75 yards.

The defense, minus injured star Sean Lee, held the Eagles to 71 rushing yards and forced an interception from Carson Wentz.

Just because the Cowboys are coming in hot doesn’t mean they’ll cover against a Falcons team that has beaten the spread in five of the last seven meeting between these clubs.

Atlanta’s sixth-ranked offense remained productive in last week’s loss, as quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 330 yards with two touchdowns and no picks. Five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones had seven catches for 107 yards and another score.

In last year’s 27-7 rout of Dallas, Atlanta’s defense sacked Dak Prescott eight times and forced two turnovers. Ryan threw for 215 yards and a pair of scores.

We can tell you Tierney is leaning toward the Under, but his much stronger play is on the side. He has identified a crucial X-factor that makes one side of the spread a must-back. He’s only sharing at SportsLine.

Who covers Falcons vs. Cowboys? And what crucial X-factor makes one side of the spread hit hard? Visit SportsLine now to see which side of Cowboys vs. Falcons you need to jump on Sunday, all from a renowned sportswriter who’s hitting 80 percent of his spread picks on the Cowboys.

Book leads the nation in completion percentage at 74.5 percent, but the plan against Syracuse might be similar to what it was vs. the Seminoles. The Orange defense is so-so and the best part of it is the pass rush (33 sacks) behind defensive ends Alton Robinson and Kendall Coleman.

The Irish can lean on Dexter Williams (202 yards rushing vs. Florida State) and Kelly said they won’t avoid getting Book involved in the running game. The junior has 218 yards and four rushing touchdowns.

“We wouldn’t play him if we had to put him in bubble wrap,” Kelly said.

Pinstripe uniforms. The Empire State Building shining blue and gold. The marching band performing at Bryant Park and the drummer’s circle at Rockefeller Center.

The third-ranked Fighting Irish (10-0, No. 3 CFP) visit Yankee Stadium in contention for the College Football Playoff. They face No. 12 Syracuse, the highest-ranked team the Orange have fielded in 20 years.

Notre Dame is two victories away from an unbeaten regular season and an almost certain spot in the national semifinals for the first time in the five-year history of the four-team playoff. Those games will be played on two coasts as the Irish finish the season next week at rival Southern California.

Since before the season, the late-season travel schedule has been a topic of conversation. Now concern among Notre Dame fans about the long road trips has been exacerbated by the fact that Syracuse (8-2, No. 12 CFP) is the best it has been years.

The Orange are bowl-eligible for the first time since 2013, have won eight regular-season games for the first time since 2001 and have their best AP Top 25 ranking since 1998. Running coach Dino Baber’s fast-paced offense, quarterback Eric Dungey is averaging 288 total yards per game and has accounted for 26 touchdowns (14 passing, 12 rushing). Few teams operate faster than the Orange, and they are more balanced this season, with 32 rushing touchdowns and 216 yards rushing per game.

“They’re still up-tempo, but they can beat you with the quarterback running, the running backs running, but also with passing the ball on the perimeter,” Notre Dame safety Nick Coleman said.

The Irish counter with a top-10 defense (4.52 yards per play), led by linebacker Te’von Coney and defensive lineman Jerry Tillery. It is a rangy, athletic and deep unit.

“They’re really, really long and they have a really, really good scheme,” Babers said. “It’s the main reason why a lot of teams have a lot of difficulty scoring points on those guys.”

Syracuse has a large following in downstate New York and for years has promoted itself as New York’s college team. That might be true during basketball season, but there will be a distinctly partisan crowd in the Bronx. The game is part of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series, so it controls the tickets. With so much at stake for the Irish, the field will be anything but neutral.

“We may have some fans there,” Babers said. “They’re the nation’s team, I guess you could call it.”

Things to know about the ninth game between Notre Dame and Syracuse and the first with both teams ranked:

The Irish breakout special uniforms for the Shamrock Series games, and this week they are going with a reference to the Yankees, working pinstripes into the uniforms and helmets.

Notre Dame is 16-6-3 all-time at Yankee Stadium, including 1-0 at the newest version. Most of those games came against Army from the late 1920s through 1946. The Irish and Syracuse played at Yankee Stadium in 1963. The then-Orangeman won 14-7 less than a week after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Notre Dame and Syracuse last played in 2016 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, home of the Giants and Jets. Notre Dame won 50-33.

The last time two ranked teams played at Yankee Stadium was 1946, when No. 1 Army and No. 2 Notre Dame tied 0-0 in what was dubbed the Game of the Century.

Utah State vs. Colorado State fearless prediction and game preview.

Date: Saturday, November 17

Game Time: 2:00 ET

Venue: Canvas Stadium, Fort Collins, CO

Network: AT&T Sports Network

What’s Going To Happen

If Utah State wins, and gets a Boise State loss at New Mexico, and the Aggies take the Mountain title. But if Boise State beats the Lobos, then this game doesn’t really matter – a win over the Broncos will be a must.

However, the 23rd-ranked Aggies want to stay in the hunt for a New Year’s Six game, and they want the machine to keep on rolling.

The O has scored 56 points or more in four of the last five games and six times on the year. Colorado State’s defense isn’t stopping much of anything, going 0-7 on the season when allowing 34 points or more.

The ultra-efficient Aggies are winning with their great midrange passing game, but they’re putting games away by winning the turnover battle. Colorado State gives up the ball way too much, and Utah State is amazing at taking it away.

The Rams have to pass to win, Utah State is second in the nation in interceptions – it’ll get at least three to turn this into a route.

TCU vs Baylor

If the Frogs won’t to keep their bowl dreams alive, they have to knock off the Baylor Bears in Waco. But TCU coach Gary Patterson isn’t buying into the “must-win” cliché for his team that sits at 4-6.

“Do we want to win? Yes, we’ve got to win,” Patterson said. “Is it a must? You want to have some urgency about doing it, but I don’t think you’re panicking. If you’re not careful, you cause a lot more problems than you do about the other side.

“When you’re struggling, what you need to do is worry about you.”

With that being said, here’s everything you need to know going into Saturday’s game — The details

Kickoff: 11 a.m. Saturday

Where: McLane Stadium, Waco

TV: FS1 (Justin Kutcher, DeMarco Murray, Petros Papadakis)

Radio: WBAP 820 AM, KTCU 88.7 FM, Sirius 106, XM 200 (Brian Estridge, John Denton, Landry Burdine)

Spanish Radio: KFZO 99.1 FM (Miguel Cruz, Elvis Gallegos)

The line: Baylor by 2 (over/under 51 1/2)

Did you know?

TCU has faced Baylor more than any other school in its history as Saturday is the 114th meeting between the programs. … The first game was a scoreless tie, 0-0, in 1899. Both schools were located in Waco at that time. … TCU has won three straight over Baylor, including a 62-22 victory in 2016 in its last trip to Waco. … Gary Patterson is 7-3 in his career against Baylor. … TCU has lost twice to Baylor since joining the Big 12. Each loss was by three points.

They said it

“For me, it’s for the seniors. The goal is to give them the best season.” — TCU coach Gary Patterson on his team that sits at 4-6

“This is a special group to me. I’d love to get a chance to play one more game with them [in a bowl].” — Baylor coach Matt Rhule on his team that sits at 5-5

Prediction

TCU hasn’t been dealt a good hand this season, particularly on the injury front. The latest news came earlier this week with the loss of senior DT Joseph Broadnax to an undisclosed medical condition. To TCU’s credit, it has managed to stay in games and it should be able to hang with Baylor longer than it did West Virginia. In the end, though, the Bears will eventually wear down the Frogs.

Baylor 21, TCU 17.

Mississippi State vs Arkansas

Traveling to Starkville (Miss.) to play the first of two final games this season, the Arkansas Razorbacks meet up with the Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday morning on ESPN.

Arkansas (2-8, 0-6 SEC) made it a competitive game late against LSU last Saturday, struggling for the first three quarters but pulling within one score in the fourth quarter. The Razorbacks got two final-quarter touchdowns from quarterback Ty Storey to tight end Cheyenne O’Grady. Unfortunately, Arkansas’ defense couldn’t get the one final stop it needed, sealing the loss for the Hogs, 24-17. The Razorbacks now have two final chances to avoid going winless in the SEC in Chad Morris‘ opening season.

Mississippi State vs Arkansas Football Live

Mississippi State (6-4, 2-4 SEC) is coming off a loss to an SEC West foe as well, getting shutout by the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide last weekend, 24-0. In Joe Moorhead’s first season at the helm, the Bulldogs have been consistently inconsistent, especially on offense. Their defense, however, is arguably the best in the entire conference. This will be only the second time all year that the Bulldogs have played at 11:00 am (CST) and have instate rival Ole Miss next on the schedule.

Adam Amin (play-by-play) and Rod Gilmore (color commentary) will do the honors of forming the ESPN broadcast crew up in the booth for this contest. Quint Kessinich (reporter) will bring updates from the sideline.

Chuck Barrett will continue to do the play-by-play for Arkansas radio in his 24th season on the crew. Barrett will be joined by color analyst and former Razorback quarterback Quinn Grovey for the second consecutive season. Another former Hog, Geno Bell, is also in his second year, manning the sideline after taking over after Grovey’s promotion.

Arkansas head coach Chad Morris (16-30 overall) and MSU head coach Joe Moorhead will match up for the first time in their coaching careers. Both head men are in their first season in the SEC. Moorhead was hired by the Bulldogs this past offseason following a stint as the offensive coordinator at Penn State. Both coaches are known for their offensive acumen and creativity.

Morris is in his fourth season as a collegiate head coach and his first at Arkansas. The former Texas high school coaching legend made stops as an offensive coordinator at Tulsa and Clemson before landing the SMU head coaching gig in 2015. This offseason, Morris brought along offensive coordinator Joe Craddock from their previous institution. At SMU, Craddock was the youngest hired OC in the country. On defense, SEC legend John Chavis joins the fray in his 30 season in the conference.

Considering their sizeable disadvantage in the spread, Rutgers will have a real challenge on their hands on Saturday. They will look to defend their home turf against Penn St. at 1:00 p.m. Allowing an average of 34.3 points per game, Rutgers have been asleep on the defensive side of the ball and will need to wake up before the game.

Rutgers took a serious blow against Michigan last Saturday, falling 7-42. On a positive note, Isaih Pacheco put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 142 yards and 1 touchdown on 16 carries.

Penn St. experienced an absolute beatdown last week but somehow put the pieces back together and came to play against Wisconsin. Penn St. came out on top against Wisconsin by a score of 22-10. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (16) and coasted on those for the win.

Penn St.’s victory lifted them to 7-3-1 while Rutgers’s defeat dropped them down to 1-9-1. In their victory, Penn St. relied heavily on Miles Sanders, who rushed for 159 yards and 1 touchdown on 23 carries. Rutgers will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.

Florida vs Idaho

The Florida Gators have officially ended their SEC schedule and will play two more non-conference games until their bowl game. The Gators will host the Idaho Vandals for the last time as this is their final home game of the season. Florida is coming into this game feeling confident after defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks 35-31. The Idaho Vandals go into this game feeling down after losing to the Montana Grizzlies 46-27. This is a game in which Florida would like to blow them out as quickly as possible and get some of their freshmen valuable playing time while keeping their redshirt. Here is the preview of the Florida Gators vs. Idaho Vandals.

The Idaho Vandals will be led by their head coach Paul Petrino. He is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Vandals. The Idaho offense is also led by their wide receiver/quarterback Mason Petrino. The junior out of Washington has been pretty solid this season for the Vandals. He has a 61.9 completion percentage with 1,863 yards, fourteen touchdowns and six interceptions. Petrino also has 65 carries for 158 yards and three touchdowns. The lead rusher for the Idaho Vandals is Isaiah Sanders. The redshirt-senior has 189 carries for 878 yards and six touchdowns. Three receivers Idaho likes to throw the ball to are David Ungerer, Cutrell Haywood and Jeff Cotton. Ungerer has 66 receptions for 692 yards and four touchdowns. Cotton has 46 catches for 618 yards and six scores. Haywood has 48 catches for 468 and six touchdowns.

Florida vs Idaho Football Game

On defense, the Idaho Vandals have had their issues has they have allowed over 30 points in the past four games. The lead tackle for the Idaho Vandals is Christian Elliss. The sophomore linebacker has 68 tackles with four tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Kaden Elliss is Idaho’s best defensive player especially in the trenches. The senior linebacker leads the Vandals in tackles for loss with 15. He also leads the team in sacks with seven and 50 tackles. The Idaho secondary has also struggled this season with only three interceptions. Ed Hall, Denzel Brantley and Lloyd Hightower each have an interception on the season.

The Florida Gators are having a great bounce back season after going 4-7 last season. Dan Mullen has made a huge impact on the Florida Gators so far and will look to finish the season strong and try to qualify for a New Year’s 6 Bowl. Redshirt-sophomore Feleipe Franks had a nice game versus South Carolina and will look to build off that game. Franks has a 56.9 completion percentage with 1,756 passing yards, seventeen touchdowns and six interceptions. He also has 209 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. Redshirt-junior Jordan Scarlett leads the Gators in rushing with 629 yards and three touchdowns. Junior Lamical Perine has 587 yards and five touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Kadarius Toney is one of Florida’s biggest playmakers. Another receiver to watch for Van Jefferson. He’s the lead receiver for the Gators with 24 catches for 312 yards and four touchdowns.

The Florida Gators defense has struggled in the past few weeks but did show out in the second half versus the Gamecocks. Junior linebacker Vosean Joseph leads the Gators in tackles with 75 on the year. David Reese is having another very solid season as he has 68 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. Junior defensive end Jachai Polite leads the Gators in sacks with 7.5. He also has 11.5 tackles for loss and four forced fumble. Jabari Zuniga has 5.5 sacks on the year with ten tackles for loss and four QB hurries. The Florida secondary is loaded with guys like C.J. Henderson, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Brad Steward. This should be a game in which the Florida defense should get the QB and force some turnovers.

Ohio State vs Maryland

Urban Meyer insists his Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing for Saturday’s matchup with Maryland.

The Buckeyes have a showdown with No. 4 Michigan next week that will determine the winner of the Big Ten East.

“I had a chat with them,” Meyer said. “I think (Maryland) is one of the more talented teams in the Big Ten. They beat Texas early on. They are extremely good.

“Our guys watched film,” he said. “Our guys are very intelligent players here. I do worry about staring at phones all day long. But they know what’s in store. And I can assure you (there) is focus on going to win that game at noon.”

Ohio State is a 14.5-point favorite over Maryland in the 11 a.m. (noon ET) game set for ABC.

Ohio State vs Maryland NCAA Football

Meyer hates having to defend the performance of his ninth-ranked Buckeyes, who still have a shot at winning the Big Ten and the national championship heading into Saturday’s game at Maryland.

Meyer bristles at those who claim this team has underachieved. Yet, he understands that this is what happens when greatness is the norm.

“First of all, it’s a product of Ohio State,” said Meyer, who owns a gaudy 79-9 record with the Buckeyes. “You know, it’s a product of the top programs in America.”

So, even after Ohio State (9-1, 6-1, No. 10 CFP) won its third road game over a ranked team, 26-6 over Michigan State last Saturday, the questions persisted.

“What happened? What’s the problem? What about this? What about that?” Meyer said, mimicking the doubters. “I could stand up and say, ‘What are you guys talking about?’ But I get it. I don’t think we played great either at times.”

Ohio State lost to Purdue 49-20 on Oct. 20, then squeezed past Nebraska at home before using a 17-point fourth quarter to pull away from the Spartans.

“It was a great team win,” Meyer said. “But we’re not where I would like us to be. Is that fair?”

There’s still time to get it right. A win over Maryland (5-5, 3-4) and another next week against Michigan will put the Buckeyes in the Big Ten title game.

Terrapins interim coach Matt Canada knows it’s going to be a challenge to pull off the upset, but hopes his team appreciates the opportunity.

“Not many people get to say they lined up and played against a highly ranked football team,” Canada said. “They’re a great football team, a great program, a great tradition.”

Maryland’s seniors play their final home game, ending careers in which most played for head coaches Randy Edsall and DJ Durkin, along with interim coaches Canada and Mike Locksley.

They also banded to keep the team together after the death of teammate Jordan McNair, who collapsed on the practice field in May and died of heatstroke in June.

“Really, really proud of them and the leadership they’ve shown this year,” said Canada, hired in January to be offensive coordinator. “Excited for their families and them to be honored Saturday. Hopefully a lot of people get here early enough to do that, because those kids deserve to be honored and appreciated for what they’ve given to the program.”

Ohio State’s running game and red-zone troubles arose once opposing defenses figured out that quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. couldn’t or wouldn’t run the ball. It led to the Buckeyes mostly removing run-pass options plays from the game plan.

Meyer finally put in dual-threat backup quarterback Tate Martell three times against Michigan State in some red-zone situations. His first play was a 5-yard quarterback draw that got down to the 1, and he stayed in to hand off to Mike Weber for the touchdown plunge.

Meyer said there could be more Martell in short-yardage situations that in recent years were nearly automatic when J.T. Barrett was running the offense.

A season-ending knee injury to quarterback Kasim Hill in last week’s loss to Indiana means Tyrrell Pigrome will start for Maryland, which needs one victory in its final two games to become bowl eligible.

Pigrome went 10 for 13 for 146 yards and a touchdown against the Hoosiers before losing a fumble in the closing seconds.

The Buckeyes are gunning for their seventh consecutive 10-win season and 14th since 2000. … Maryland’s Anthony McFarland ran for 210 yards against Indiana, a school record for a freshman. … Ohio State is 4-0 against Maryland, scoring 52, 49, 62 and 62 points in blowout fashion.
